CIM™ Technical Requirements
Implementing the Cash Information Management (CIM™) software suite does not require any proprietary or "special" hardware and software configurations.
- IBM compatible PC with Pentium processor.
- Two COM ports and one parallel port. (IR adaptors can not be substituted for DB9M RS-232 9-pin COM ports.
- Minimum 256 MB main memory
- 200 MB disk space on local drive
- VGA/SVGA color screen
- 101 keyboard recommended
- Windows 2000 or newer OS

Dedicated Server
Often not needed. Recommended for installations of over 40 PC's. Transaction loading on server is not heavy. Disk storage of 2 GB's required for 2-year transaction retention.
To reduce costs and improve performance, small sites of less than 10 users can, if they so desire, log in to a distant server, but operate using shared folders on a manager's PC.

Topology
Token Ring or Ethernet to corporate standard. Ethernet preferred. Do not use passive hubs. The server should be situated close to the vault or money room with data switches, routers, etc. to control traffic.
Back-Up
Tape to corporate standard for production systems. (Users cannot be forced offline or shut down in the process.) The standards of production systems "govern," not those of administrative (end-user computing) systems.
