Frederick Thomas, co-founder and president of
Gardenia Software Systems (formerly Gardenia Programs), brings decades of hands-on business and IT experience to the Gardenia team. Frederick spent many years working in international finance, IT, and manufacturing for companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Avon Products, Warner Lambert, and Triangle Industries before establishing Gardenia Programs with business partner Irmgard Hehmann in 1988. As Vice President of Product Development, Frederick took the lead in developing the
CIM™ suite of cash management software applications which quickly became the industry standard for cash management systems in the banking industry and elsewhere. Frederick assumed the presidency upon Irmgard’s retirement in 2006.
Frederick attended the University of Maryland and US Military Academy at West Point . He served as an army officer in Germany, Vietnam, and in the US, while completing an MBA at the University of Richmond and Seton Hall University.
Frederick enjoys skiing, photography, writing, history, and the arts. He is also quite the gourmet cook and keeps the Gardenia staff well fed (and in need of frequent exercise) with his array of Italian specialties.

Garry joined Gardenia in 1999 after careers with Cincinnati Bell, AGS, and United Air Specialists. He immediately assumed responsibility for product development of the Cash Information Management or CIM family of applications and completed the conversion from DOS to Windows in a remarkably short time. As of early 2007, Garry is also in charge of customer support services.
Garry received an Associate’s in Information Science at Bowling Green University, a B.S. in IT from the University of Cincinnati, and later earned an MBA in IT – the last of these while working full time. Before deciding to pursue a course of study and a career in IT, Garry managed a large marina on Lake Erie, a job well-suited for an outdoor enthusiast.
And Garry is more than enthusiastic about the great outdoors. When he is not at the computer, Garry enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities, including fishing, boating, and hunting. He is also a great dog lover and fosters golden retrievers for a rescue shelter until they can be placed for adoption.

The newest member of the team (fall of 2007), Maya brings to Gardenia a broad range of experience in marketing. She has worked for organizations in the technology and health care industries and has also worked for a wide variety of organizations as a freelance copywriter, graphic designer, and marketing consultant.
With a great interest in history, current events, language, and literature, Maya pursued degrees in a number of graduate fields and earned a Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Cincinnati. She worked as an instructor and translator before embarking on a marketing career. Traveling and food are among her primary passions in life, and since joining Gardenia, she has been more than willing to act as Sampler-in-Chief for Frederick’s gourmet experiments.
Maya spends her free time traveling, reading, cooking, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the out-of-doors.
